Ne'imah's 17th Annual Concert

Ne’imah’s 17th aniversary titled “Yerushalayim Shel Zahav” (Jerusalem of Gold) celebrating Jerusalem's reunification day took place on May 31, 2009 at at the Linda Norris Auditorium, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio in Albany.

The guest performer at this concert was Rebecca Teplow, a talented performer and composer of Jewish music, with a voice “a little like Norah Jones, a little like Neshama Carlebach and a hint of Barbara Streisand”. Rebecca’s compositions combine her classical training with the traditional Jewish music that she encountered while growing up in Brooklyn.

The program featured original works about Jerusalem and Israel, the Jewish traditionsand people, sung in Hebrew, Yiddish and English and written by contemporary Israeli and Jewish composers, including Ms. Teplow's compositions, choral arrangements of existing Jewish folk and liturgical music.

The program also included a slide presentation about Jerusalem and short poems about Jerusalem read by chorus members.

Over 150 people attended this concert.
